[SOLVED] Is it worth it to upgrade my CPU and if it is which CPU should get??

I have GA-H81M-S2PV (rev 1.0) and i don't know first of all if it is worth it to upgrade my CPU and if it is with which CPU should i upgrade it? And should i upgrade my GPU if i should with which GPU?


My Specs:
Intel-Core i3 4130
GA-H81M-S2PV(rev 1.0)
Dual Channel 2xDDR3 4GBytes
AMD Radeon R9 270

Upgrading to an I5 4670 and RX570 would be a solid upgrade.

I7s from that generation are still expensive and the RX570 offers the best value of new gpus.'

Depends on what games do you want to play. Some may be more CPU intensive, others GPU intensive.

Your motherboard supports 4th gen (Haswell) processors up to i7-4790k. Look for whatever you can afford from that list, preferably i5 (since i3's have only 2 cores and i7's are mostly too expensive). Make sure they are not dual cores (those ended in Y, U, H, E, ..., exception is S). You want at least 4 cores for gaming these days.
If your target is eBay, browse here.

GPU-wise, you can go for something like a 1050Ti, 1060, RX 570 or 580.
If in doubt, check PassMark scores for GPU's and CPU's.

but when i opened my PC to see something i think it saw that it was 330W or 350W

You will have to look inside of the case. Can you take a picture of the sticker on the side of the psu?

Software cant tell you what psu you have.

Can you take the side panels off of the pc and look on the side of the psu and take picture of the psu?

330W isn't enough for a 570.

The 570 also needs an 8 pin power connector, which I doubt that psu has. Otherwise, the system won't boot at all.

I would consider an upgrade to a quality 450 or more watt 80+ bronze psu.

If you intend on keeping it for several more years I'd invest in a used i7-4770 or i7-4771. Yes, its about $130 used on eBay but it would be worth it for the extra four threads. Just a month ago I did this for a PC with a Pentium G3258. I could have went cheaper and got an i5, but more and more games are using more than four threads. Another cheaper option your motherboard would support (to get those four cores/eight threads) would be a Xeon E3-1230v3. They're about $90.

About the graphics card, I'd go with the 1060. It's about the same performance as the 580, but has lower tdp. RX 580 needs 185w, RX 570 needs 120w and the 1060 needa 120w. There are 2 variants, 3gb and 6gb. There shouldn't be much difference between them unless your game needs more graphics memory. Anyway, get whichever you can afford.
