Question Is it worth it to upgrade the CPU and board? zen 2- zen 3? b550 - x570?

so i have been using the ryzen 7 3700x for a few years now and considering moving up to either the ryzen 7 5700x or ryzen 9 5900x. the zen 3, 7 5700x is on sale for$189 if i remember right and it seems to be a pretty solid upgrade from the zen 2, 7 3700x

i think i am going to wait on the zen4/am5 stuff for now as id not only have to replace the cpu and the board, but the ram as well, and as im not 4k gaming, it doesnt make sense to me to do it now especially when they are still working out all kinds of issues.

IF i do upgrade the CPU, it will be the last upgrade for at least a couple years. I have tried to methodically upgrade anything and everything related to my system in a cost effective manner.

trying to decide if going from 7 3700x to 7 5700x is worth it or if i should just save my money up to when i make the zen4/am5 move. going from b550 to x570 does NOT seem worth it. 7 5700x seems like a pretty solid upgrade and its cheaper than 5800x, 5900x

bought the 7 5700x should come in mid next week. going to take the 7 3700x and put it into my basically complete other build. i've basically replaced all of my components so now i have a nearly complete second computer with what i've used for the last 2 years. it honestly will just need a power supply. i think i might try and sell it for like a thousand i dunno, should still be completely solid for a few more years.

i went from a 3600x to a 5900x and can tell the difference. it's not earth shattering, but there is clearly a little more zip to the new cpu.

i'd expect similar with a 3700x to 5700x upgrade. you'll feel the difference but it won't be 2x the speed or anything silly like that.

supposed to be a 15-30% increase in general stats. i will save upgrading the board for when i eventually move to am5 in a few years. by that time it should have all the kinks worked out with the design and with the ram and etc.

came in today. seems like it runs a bit smoother. added about 80 fps to starcraft 2, about 40 fps to cyberpunk on 2k setting. with raytracing off. pretty much everything got a boosted even though the 7 5700x has a 200 mhz slower base clock. im happy. but i will definitely be happy when i make a decision on what cooler im going to upgrade to. wraith prism is just a pain in the balls to keep taking off and on. stupid uneven clips.

ive been bouncing back and forth between an air cooler and an aio. there are air coolers that i like but the high performance ones overlap the ram chips. id have enough clearance for them, but it would eliminate the whole point of having rgb sticks. whereas, if i go aio not only does it simplify the wiring and look of the board but i could keep some color there. im debating on 3. the msi mag coreliquid 240r v2, the asus lc II 240 (argb vs the lc 240 which is rgb) and the corsair h100i elite. i think regardless i will be solid i just need to decide between the asus ninja mask, the corsair led ship with a black and white center or the msi dragon.
