Is it worth it to upgrade this pc.

My current PC consist of the following
Core 2 Duo e6750
Asus p5n-e mobo
2 gb ddr2 pc6400
Radeon 1gb 4850

I am interested in upgrading my OS from XP to win 7 so I can add more ram. Is this a reasonable solution or is this PC to old to bother with it. Thanks

Win 7 will run well on your system, you could go to 4gb memory but otherwise it is a good rig. I have upgraded all by rigs to 7, even some very old Shuttle XPCs that I had to hack some old win XP drivers and they run better without all the BSODs and driver issues.

Without a problem. I had C2D E6750 with 5GB of RAM and it was working fine on my Gigabyte mobo. Than I put in an SSD Vertex2 and it was the best upgrade without changing the CPU.

Now I upped to 2600K and compare to that C2D, its different planet. U can encode 2hrs movie with2 pass encode from 12hrs down to 2hrs or less. Its incredible power increase.

And now is a great time to upgrade with all those sales around you : )

But, if u don't encode anything, than your PC will be smoother in the W7.

If you not in to hammering the hell out of your system, double the ram to 4GB and upgrade the video card to ATI 5000 sereis or even a NV460GTX, add another 4850 off ebay and crossfire them.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I'll get Win 7 and add 2 more gigs of ram. Then if i get some more money, I might do a few more things.
