So I am on an really tight budget and I was wondering is it worth the extra £60 for the amd fx 8350 over the 6300, I want to do mainly gaming and some recording (lets plays) and editing (video in vegas), so again is it worth the extra money for the performance gain in these programs.

My system (theoretically):
Gigabyte Motherboard GA-990FXA-UD3 for AMD AM3+,
Amd FX-6300 / 8350,
Msi lightning r7970 3gb / gtx 760, (r7970 is really cheap but I wont be able to get it if I get 8350),
corsair rm850
corsair 750d
1tb western digital black
64gb kingston ssd

Solution
Yes, mainly because of how piledriver works, the FX 8350 is actually both a quad core in it's floating point performance, and octo core in it's integer performance. Same goes with FX-6300, it's a triple core and a hexa core.
