Hi

Sorry but fair warning I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff so feel free to talk to me like I'm an idiot.

I bought my pc from pc specialist and have already voided the warranty as I like to keep it clean and I replaced the sound card. (I did neither of these close to the time my pc broke)

My specs

Intel core i7 9700k
16GB Corsair vengeance ddr4 3000mz
Rtx 2070
ASUS TUF Z370-PLUS GAMING II

The problem

My pc can't get past post and gives me the alarm (one long beep then two short beeps (repeated)) which means memory is not being detected. I bought some back up sticks of ram and did the basic tests(cleaning the slot, checking all the slots etc). Nothing changed. I then try reseting the cmos and the pc comes on for a few seconds, turns off then on again and starts the same alarm. I can't get the bios open.

I'm starting to think my motherboard or at least the ram slots on the motherboard are dead. Is there anything else I can do to get it working or is it a lost cause? Or am I completely on the wrong track?

Cheers for reading

(I have had a power surge knock out my xbox which my be useful info idk)

Thank you for the responce

PSU
Corsair TXm Series 80 PLUS Gold, 650 W

I'm not sure if it was a power surge that did it. But it is a possibility as that is what happened to my xbox. I was daisy chaining extention cords at the time aswell so that kind of adds to that being the cause.

You mentioned the cpu socket potentially being damaged, is it possible the cpu itself could be damaged aswell?
