I'm considering overclocking my GPU in hopes of gaining FPS in PUBG, but also the other games I play (CS:GO <- more fps is always nice, Ranbow Six Siege, The Witcher 3, etc).
What I'm wondering is: Will the performance boost I gain from OC'ing my GPU be worth the added heat / power consumption?
Here is my system...
CPU: i5-4460
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
GPU: Sapphire TRI-X R9 390
PSU: Rosewill Photon Series 750w 80+ Gold
RAM: 16gb DDR3 1600mhz
Storage: 1 x 240gb SSD; 1 x 1tb HDD (7200RPM)
As of now, heat is not an issue. My CPU (not that it matters very much in this instance) never reaches over 35 degrees celsius.
I ran FurMark at the max settings for about 7 minutes and the results were...
(I couldn't find the screenshot)
The temperature raised consistently for the first 1-2 minutes, but plateaued at ~80 for the rest of the benchmark.
I suppose something to note is that I live in North East Michigan and the temperature rarely raises over 15 degrees fahrenheit.
That being said, I believe I have a LOT of room to overclock, but I'm unsure of how far I should go and whether or not I should even do it.
Also, any recommendations on what OC'ing software I should use would be greatly appreciated.
