is it worth overclocking a i5 6100 for titan x for most modern games?

My friend wants to overclock an i7 skylake for the gtx 1080 but I just saw these benchmarks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRZeEcenGrk
and only a few wierd games benifited from the overclocked cpu on a 980 like city skylines.

Should I advise my friend not to overclock his cpu for purely gaming purposes?

seperately I have a different friend who has a i5 3000 series cpu. What is the best graphics card he can get without a horrible bottleneck?

Solution
1) There is no i5 6100
2) The i3 6100 cannot be overclocked
3) No sense overclocking a brand new chip. In a few years when games need more power he can overclock his (already well worn in) 6600k or 6700K
4) If your friend has a 3.2GHz or faster i5 from sandy bridge or ivy bridge, a 960/380 goes very well, and for most games even a 970/390 is a great match.
Your question contradicts. You say i5 in title, but give an i3 model, in the post itself you say i7. Which one is it? You can not overclock a 6100, as it is a locked cpu (non k version).

As for your second friend, maybe a GTX 1070.
