See that new printers can be had for 50$, no point in trying to fit an old one.

+1. Normally you could be charged anywhere from $50-$100 to get it fixed. If your keen, get a torch check for any obstructions in the paper tray, tip the printer up to dislodge anything. If you can reach the pickup roller, get a mildly damp cloth and wipe the rollers, they build up paper dust over time.
