Hi all,

I have an [old] d-link ANT24-0700 wireless antenna which is unfortunately broken (the 'antenna' bit snapped but the base into which I attach the antenna is fine.

Is it worth trying to get a replacement antenna, or has tech moved so far beyond this? Also, is the 'base' the part that actually makes the thing work well or were I to buy a new 'antenna' and attach it could I make the whole thing 'technologically up to date'?

Thanks,

Jay

probably not. all the new stuff is mimo 2.4 and 5. it will have many antennas.
if you want great speeds locally line of site access points and an updated wifi card that supports the same tech.
on my $80 unifi ap lite I can get 450Mbs 2x2mimo 5Ghz using their largest channel setting.

unless you care about lan speeds you mainly just need enough speed for your ISP connection.
