I'm planning to buy new a router for price around 150$. Since wifi 6 is the future, I thought of buying the Tp-Link Ax 3000 router.

The router will be connected to minimum 5 mobile devices, 1 TV and 1 PC all the time. I watch live streaming sports in my PC.

Is it worth the money or its better to buy a good AC router in similar price range.

Thanks in advance.

I still on the wait and see mode on 802.11ax. If they followed their plan the standard was only released in the last couple days. Any equipment currently on the market may need patches to comply or if it was like 802.11n-draft stuff the chips were wrong.

I am waiting to see if it is actually faster in your normal home installation and not in the lab tests. To get faster speeds they use all the possible bandwidth on the 5g band. We already have massive interference from neighbors using wifi and this makes it worse. It is impossible to 2 routers to co exists without interfering. They claim there are feature to help but I can't see how they can solve the problem of radio waves coming into your house.

Remember this is coming from a bunch of manufactures that want you to replace your current equipment because they make no money if what you have works and meets your needs. They are dependent on people who just have to have new things.

I will likely wait a couple years until my equipment has issues. By then it will be much cheaper and every device will likely have support.
