Im considering changing out my crosshair v formula z and oced 8320 at 4.7 for an i7-4790k and an evga z97 classified EATX, I have two 780 classifieds and would be reusing those and likely adding a third, along with all other part besides a new water block for the cpu as i currently have a custom loop. The pc this would go in is just a gaming rig my question is adding a third 780 aside would there be enough of a performance increase to justify the 400ish bucks it would cost to upgrade (im factoring selling the old parts in)

Sounds impressive already. Kinda an odd question but what resolution display do you use?

In any case, I'd say the impact would be minimal, but there is a freaking ton of graphics power there, the processor might actually be limiting the system, small as it may be. Personally, I'd still vote towards fixing problems than just buying it to have it. If you notice lower frames than you think you should get then maybe consider it, or if there are some processor features you want in the i7 (but that's getting very technical and very specific).

I'm sure there is a way to monitor your hardware under usage to tell you if it's limiting you. But I can only speculate on that front.

I play in 5760x1080 at 60htz or 1920x1080 at 144htz but am currently unable to keep 144fps with my setup my cpu usage never goes over 80 but i keep seeing intel get higher fps in benchmarks so im torn
