is it worth to buy PS4 in December 2017?

Planning to buy a PS4 / PS4-Pro this coming December 2017, is it still worth to buy a PS4 /PS4-Pro in that time? or should I wait for new consoles? (if there are any announcements)

The thing about consoles is it's more about the content than the specs. If all your friends are PS and you like their IP (Gran Turismo for example), then you don't really have a choice - the PS4 / Pro environment won't be going anywhere for a few years.

Spec-wise though, even as a PS fan the XB1X is technically a superior machine and I really don't care about this generation of VR, so the lack of enthusiasm for it from MS doesn't bother me.

There are no immediate plans for a new console generation and it will be atleast 2020, till we see new consoles, so yes, getting a PS4 Pro/PS4 makes sense (I would recommend PS4 pro as it has a bit better hardware specs).
