Is it worth to upgrade to this CPU?

Hey guys, so i have this old i5 2310 paired with my Asus P8H67-V and 8GB of RAM 1333Mhz and an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB, so i compared an i5 7400 with a i5 3470 (and i5 3570) and i noticed that the difference in performance was just 6% (3470) and 1% (3570) so is it worth it? i would need to replace my whole kit just to get a new CPU, and these i5s seem to get the job done.

you will not notice much improvement (if any) by going to the i5 7400 over the i5 3570.

If you were going to upgarde then you should look to the R5 2600X or the i5-8600K. Faster CPU, Faster RAM and more CPU/Cores

I have an i5 2310, i wish i could upgrade to the i5 7400, but that would require Mobo/RAM upgrade, if i buy the i5 3470, it's a 21% improvement over my 2310, and from the videos i've seen, my 1060 won't bottleneck if i get the 3470

You need to take into consideration:

Budget - How much are you willing to spend?
Price vs performance - How well does it perform compared to the price. There ARE charts for this.
Alternatives for same price = Can you upgrade to something newer for the same price or close to it. It's best to compare the performance vs price for the alternative.

For example, if you spend $100 on this processor, but you could've upgraded to a newer PC for only $100 more, it would be more beneficial for you to wait until you can afford it. This way, you can expand further and you'll have less compatibility issues.

If you can't afford a whole system upgrade you are probably better off buying a Xeon from Ali-Express for around $100-120.
Your motherboard (with bios version 3604) supports the E3 1230 V2 and the E3 1245 V2, both CPUs are 4c8t, would be a much better upgrade then going from an i5 to another i5 on the same socket.

As you can see, there are several options available to you.
If you wish to stick with this build, a brand new i5-3470 goes for about $100 on EBay.

Other things to consider:

-> No matter what CPU you get for this motherboard, it will still bottleneck before the GPU does, essentially still limiting your experience in games. More than anything, this will limit your maximum framerate in games, especially at higher resolutions.

-> I would think about getting your RAM up to 16GB. 8GB is OK for most games, but you would see better performance overall with more RAM.

-> Invest in a SSD to boot from. The Samsung 850 Evo is about the best SATA 3.0 SSD you can buy. Booting the Operating System from a SSD will yield far better boot times, and will greatly increase responsiveness across the entire system, including games and applications, updates, etc.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: The Best CPU I could find for your motherboard, which seems to be compatible as well, is the i7-3770K. I don't know much about your motherboard, if it can overclock or not, or even the specific architecture it uses for the CPU, but the i7-3770K is the best Processor for a LGA-1155 CPU socket. A lot of people get a stable overclock to 4.8 GHz without any temperature issues.

Well i guess you're right, i should probably get the i5 3470 (or the 3570) or the i7 3770, RAM prices are through the roof now, it's basically impractical to buy 2 4GB sticks now, since i have an old DDR3 motherboard, i would need to get a whole new set of parts just to upgrade my CPU, is the i7 3770 still a good choice for 2018?

Are AliExpress CPUs are actually real? idk, Ali sounds shady, i've seen plenty of videos of fake GPUs and CPUs around the internet, all bought on Ali

Yes! The i7-3770 goes pretty cheap on EBay, and is a far better solution than buying a whole new setup. I would get the i7-3770, then save money for a new computer in the future.
