Is it worth to use adapter for monitor that can't support DVI/HDMI?

Hi,

I'm having trouble with choosing this either 2 options I had in mind. It's probably a noob question but I'll ask anyway.

Currently I'm using a monitor with this spec, (20' LED, 1366x768, VGA only). As of now, I have no problem using this for my current desktop as it still have VGA port. Problem is, I'm now planning to buy a new dedicated graphic card which doesn't have VGA port included.

Is it better if
(1) I buy a dvi-d to vga converter/adapter so that I can still use this small monitor (cheapest solution I guess)
or
(2) get a new monitor with native DVI/HDMI port?

Because at this point, I'm leaning towards option (1). Please advice

p/s: The graphic card I'm planning to get is GTX 1050 series

Obviously the new monitor is the better solution. But if funds are in short supply, there is no reason to not get the card and the active converter. The analog display will always be a bit less sharp and less bright than digital, but that is the trade-off.

Thing may consider before buying, what is the use of your current system to you, are you a gamer? a professional?
If yes and you could afford both GPU and monitor then upgrade, if no then use adapter..
about GPU i'll recommend 1050 ti instead of 1050

Most of the time I'm gaming but not playing AAA titles while the rest for coding fyi.
I can afford for both GPU and monitor but if using adapter is a cheaper way (by a lot) to make it work and able to 1080p, I might choose the (1) option. I'm not much of a monitor/display expert.

would I have trouble going for 1080p if I use adapter? Most people that I refer to are against using adapter since the output isn't very pleasant to see, more so when gaming.

That's what I'm suggesting..If you are satisfied with your current rig then just get an proper adapter and
"to make it work and able to 1080p"
by using an adapter you won't go 1080p as your monitor res is 1366x768

Yes, get a monitor which comes with HDMI cable in box..just little better than DVI
