Since I am planning to buy RX 580 8GB, is it worth to wait for the RX 5500, and what price tag will it be? Or, will RX580 be cheaper for a few months because of the launch of the rx 5500?

Solution
Based on the raw numbers, should be a roughly 60% gap between the RX5700 and RX5500, also half the memory.

That would put it right around the GTX1660 / RX590 in terms of relative performance, which is roughly $190 with the GTX1660 Super sitting at $220 or so. Best case, MSRP of $180 with sales and discounts putting it around there, unless Nvidia discounts the 1660 with the 1660 Super now in the same price bracket, assuming that price is feasible anyway.

In other words, A high end 580 or decent 590 will do just fine right this moment without leaving much to be desired.

If you can wait about 2 and a half weeks, then get the RX 5500. It has a lower power draw (133W at full load) and comparable performance to the RX 590 (surpasses the RX 580 8GB). Expect pricing to be lower than the RX 580 ($140-$150 versus $180). Maybe the RX 580 will fall in price, but for $150, this will still be the better deal.

If you want very similar performance to the RX 5500 right now, go and get a GTX 1650 Super.
