Specs:
MBD: Z590 Aorus Ultra MB
CPU: i9-10850k @ 4.8GHz with a liquid cooler
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060 12Gb
RAM: 128GB Viper Patriot (4 x 32G matched sticks)

I want to upgrade my video card to an RTX 4070 Ti but is it really worth it.?
I ran some tests online and results say I would get about 25% increase...is this realistic?

I would wait until the RTX5000 series comes out. For those who are on a GTX1000 series GPU and were looking at an upgrade, then maybe but from the entire RTX4000 series was a disappointment when compared to the RTX 3000 series, for the amount of money you spend towards them.

You forgot to mention the make and model of your PSU and it's age. Would you be interested in an AMD GPU? Then again, if you can wait, see what the RTX 5000 has in store.

Not the 4070 Ti, but the 4070 Ti Super. That is an excellent GPU and is more powerfull than your 3060.

But maybe you would be better off with a Radeon 7900GRE? Also excellent, and cheaper. But maybe it's not available? 7800XT would also be a good upgrade.

What is your resolution? If you're gaming at 1080p you won't get that much benefit, but if you're gaming at 1440p then either a 7900GRE or 4070 Ti Super would be amazing.

As @Lutfij mentioned, a new lineup will be out by next Easter. AMD, Intel and Nvidia will all have new GPUs, some very very powerfull.
The money you spend today will buy you a much better GPU in 6-9 months. Do you want to wait?

my PSU is a 8 month old Corsair RMx 1000 Gold.. gaming at 1440 on 2 Vizio 120Hz monitors
NOT interested in any AMD product.
Maybe I will wait for the next gen..have no issues really at the present time.I mainly do animation and thus rendering in 3ds max2025

was thinking i would get better render times with video card upgrade..not finding a lot of that type of testing results anywhere..of course autodesk always wants one to use quadro cards..just a little outta reach for my pocketbook. and they suck at gaming!!!

For gaming, either a 4070 Ti Super or wait until the next gen, but that's still some time away. The 3060 isn't really great shakes at gaming.
You might take a look at a Sparkle TITAN a770: https://www.sparkle.com.tw/en/products/view/6A1A31428cBE
It's not much better than a 3060 at all, but maybe it's extra features are of interest to you.

Really, the perfect choice is the 7900GRE right now. Better than what nvidia have around that point. But since you firmly rejected it, your only choices are either a 4060, 4070 Ti or 4070 Ti Super.
Problem with the 4070 Ti is that isn't not exactly great value but it seems to be what you want. Ti Super is superior and costs more.
The 4060 is an upgrade over the 3060, but it's a modest improvement. It's for those with 1070s or 2070s or older GPUs.

I really appreciate all of everyone's comments and suggestions.Couldn't be a better place to ask about hardware. After weighing all the info provided and much more research, I have decided I should wait for the next gen of video cards...maybe the "economy" will be better suited by then also.
I have avoided AMD products for many years . back in the day I was building pc's for a business and using AMD products... they were cheaper but unfortunately not a quality product.I guess they have come a long way since then...but once bitten..??
I guess we will all be chasing the proverbial carrot to get the latest ,fastest and "best" for whatever purpose we use our machines. It has been my experience that what is the "best" today for any individual will be yesterdays news tomorrow. A fact of progress. Who knows what lies ahead..keeping current can be costly and we will all be a step behind the industry.
Thanks again for all support.
