Is it worth upgrading from GTX770 to GTX980?

I have a GTX770 2GB and I want to future proof my PC for the next few years.
Specs:
Ryzen 5 1600, 16gb ram 3200mhz.

The most problematic thing is the price, I don't want to spend 800$ for a GPU, and where I live these components are very expensive.

GTX770 price: not even sold anymore - but I would say around 200$.
GTX980 price: 300$.

And for comparison:
GTX1070: 620$.
GTX980 Ti: 620$.
GTX1080: 850$.

I don't expect gaming in 3 years on high settings, but I hope every game would run on low+1080p+more than 40fps.

I understand. For the extra 75 bucks though your getting:

1. Same performance or better (in some games)
2. Newer tech
3 More ram (which will help at higher resolutions - should you change monitor) and will allow for a bit more headroom for the 3 years your thinking of.

The GTX980 is a great card, make no mistake about that. For me personally the 1060 for an extra few quid makes more sense. You won't be disappointed with...

at 1080p the 980 is a good choice

make sure your power supply has the proper number of pcie cables and has enough wattage to handle it

The 1060 6GB is more pricey here - 375$.
I guess I'll go with the 980.

Thank you

Future proofing cannot the really predicted and guaranteed in a general sense.

If you're aiming for 40fps at FHD resolution you can also think about GTX 1060 cards too. More or less same performance as 980 and pretty much can handle all titles at 1080.
