Is it worth upgrading from Sapphire HD6950 2GB?

After having Far Cry 3 run poorly, I have spent hours reading Top Ten lists, similar posts, comparing parts etc. and still haven't decided. Hopefully someone with a bit more expertise could give an opinion.
I can't spend more than 700nzd(575usd) so is it worth upgrading the GPU or putting more effort into other areas for now? Or is something else an issue (I am pretty noob)?

Specs :

Motherboard : Asus Crosshair V 990FX
CPU: AMD FX 8150 3.6 GHZ
GPU: Sapphire HD6950 2GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3-1600
PSU: Cooler Master sXtreme Power Plus 600W

My current monitor is 1680 x 1050 AOC LCD but should hopefully have a Dell UltraSharp U2412M within the month.
Any help would be appreciated.

In 575 usd you'll get a GTX 680. Which is a beast.

But, best is to play FC3 at a lower setting for now and wait for Nect-Gen cards.

+1 to Sumukh. If you can't wait, I'd say grab a GTX670 (it's only 6% behind the GTX680 on average - you wouldn't be able to see the difference).

Cool, it does make more sense to hold out till the next range of cards. Will make do till then.

I have the same card and am running Far Cry 3 at maximum settings, not a hiccup.

The 6950 is still a good card, although they have a tendency to run hot. I would also agree to keep it for a little while yet.
