Is it worth upgrading from the gtx 980 to a gtx 1070?

Based on leaked benchmarks, I expect the GTX 1070 to come in right around the TitanX level of performance. So it would be about a ~20% performance upgrade (due to the scale of the chart, with the GTX 1080 as baseline, the difference is greater than shown).

The answer is: No one knows that answer at today.
There is no benchmarks done in the GTX 1070, so, at this moment, all the things about GTX 1070 are hypothesis.
The only thing i would imagine is, yes, it will be better than a 1070, but, worth the upgrade? That's the real question.

Are any of the games you play not able to be run smoothly at max settings?
If so then maybe, if not wait until you actually need to upgrade and then look at the options. Upgrading just because a newer better card is available is foolish.
I have a 980 and everything runs great so I'm in no hurry.

Propably the new 1070 will have perfomance between 980-980ti,judging by nvidia history,970 has the same perfomance as a gtx 780-780ti.All these are just theory,in which theory upgrade from 980 to 1070 its not worth it at all.Imo if you have already a gtx 980 the only upgrade i considered worthy is to 1080sli-1080ti for 4k gaming(if benchmarks are true and gtx 1080 is 4k capable),anything less would be sidegrade or upgrade with very little difference.
