Is it worth upgrading i5-4460 to i7-4790? Or better upgrading to i3-8100?

- CPU: i5-4460
- GPU: IGame GTX 1060 6gb Vulcan
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600MHz DDR3

Ah i see. But there's no intention of me to overclock my CPU in the future so im looking the non K version of CPU.

And do you think upgrading to i7-4790 will bring more fps for gaming? Or just very slightly increase fps?

yes you will get more fps but still, you should be getting the i7 4790k. it is 400mhz faster right of the bat giving it a significant increase over it's not k counterpart. and maybe later you might want to overclock.

get a i7 4th gen which would go with your existing motherboard. that too will only give you 4 extra threads and little bit of extra speed..see if that worth the money.
i dont see any point of getting a K chip as that will require you to change your motherboard too and if you going to get a whole new system soon, why spend whole lot now?
and later you can get a a full new system. possibly in Q1 2020 by that time intel 10th gen and amd 3rd gen ryzen will be out with motherboard, drivers etc etc and tested

Why would a K chip necessitate a motherboard change?

While no, you couldn't OC - there is the added, decent clock speed gain going for the K. Assuming prices are similar, of course - I wouldn't spend much more for a 4770K/4790K on an H81 board.
