Is it worth upgrading my CPU?

Hello,
Here is gaming desktop setup
Board: Asus Z87-A
CPU: Core i5 4440 3.1GHz
RAM: HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6Gb
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (for some software reasons)

I was thinking of replacing the CPU with a 5th generation i7 to play the new games, like COD Black Ops 4 and AC Odyssey. What do you advise me?

Your motherboard support the 4xxx CPUs and some Xeons. It does not support 5xxx CPUs. If you are going to upgrade, and have to change motherboards, you should make a bigger leap to a Z270 motherboard and an 8xxx CPU.

The i7 4790 is still a decent CPU (I use it with a GTX 1080 ti) and would be the best you can do in that motherboard.
