Is it worth upgrading to a GTX 1070?

Hey,

I currently own a GTX 970 together with a Intel i7 4790 (not k). My question is, is it worth selling my GTX 970 for lets say 170-180 dollars and upgrade to a 1070, or wait until the 1170 comes out and then sell my current card for less. I play on 1080p and 144hz.

Depends highly on the games you play, probably not worth it to get the 1070. The only good reason to upgrade is if you're not satisfied with your performance and you're sure it's the GPU.

The 970 is a little weaker than the 1060. Given your 144hz screen, it can definitely help to drive most games on ultra as the upgrade from 970 to 1070 is around 50%, which is a lot... http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-970-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1070/2577vs3609
But then again, the current prices of 1070 is all over the place. Unless you get a good deal on it or procure it at its original rate before the inflation kicked, you shoudnt bother, unless your current card is struggling.
As mentioned above, it also depends on the games you play. That 50% boost is on ideal conditions on ideal games, and its going to vary per game.
