Is light bleed a defect?

I just received an Acer S277HK 4K IPS monitor today which cost me a pretty penny. The monitor is gorgeous and when on a normal screen there's no issues with colour or anything, but on black screen there's some serious light bleed. Is this a defect or just the nature of IPS?

How often do you use it on black screen? Only when asleep? Can you turn back lighting off?

If I power off the monitor yeah haha. This is what it looks like on a black background in the dark, slightly exaggerated by the photo but not much.

So there's nothing on the monitor menu to turn of backlighting?

I think you should ask Acer.
