Is Loud Normal for a Gaming PC?

This month I bought my first gaming PC, an Empire Elite II. In the first week of getting it home it seemed too loud, I mean horrendously loud. I took it back to the store and they said yeah it's just a loud PC but the actual casing was vibrating and making it louder so they tightened it up and said it improved it to a certain degree. Not sure if they were just fobbing me off but it's still ridiculously loud. You can hear the fan but along with that the horrendously loud whirring/buzzing/vibrating sound. It's not constant, for example doing meagre tasks like googling and visiting this site, but when I play a game on it, as time goes on it gets louder and louder until I turn the game off. Is this normal? Is this just what gaming PCs are like? Or have I made a bad purchase here?
Thanks.

Just because something is "new" doesn't mean that it is doing what it is supposed to.

I recommend checking your temperature levels with some sort of program. I personally use HWMonitor, but other people may have other recommendations.

Once you have the temperatures, you can compare them with averages and safe levels that have been published.

If your temperatures are ultimately fine, then I'd simply be cautious with your PC. If something is rattling, it generally isn't good. But again, of course, you could have poor (or poorly installed) fans or components, which will work, but will work loudly.

This depends largely on the quality of your components, especially your case fans (and the fans of the PSU, GPU, and CPU Cooler). If you get cheap fans, they'll make a lot of noise, but they'll generally operate "fine". Sometimes it is a matter of loose screws, which is why the techs tightened it for you, as they can rattle around in their sockets if not properly secured. Do you know if your system is at least being cooled properly? As in, are your temperatures at safe and proper ranges?

Thanks for your replies.

I can only assume that my system is being cooled properly, I bought it about 4 weeks ago so it's pretty much brand new.

These are my specs:

Processor - AMD FX 4300 Processor
- Quad-core
- 3.8 GHz
- 4 MB cache
Memory (RAM) 8 GB (16 GB maximum installable RAM)
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (2 GB)
Storage 1 TB HDD, 7200 rpm
Motherboard AMD 760G
PSU ATX, 500 W
