Is McAfee Any Good?

I just did a factory restore on my Compaq Presario after four or five
years since getting it. It originally came with McAfee but I never
installed it. I decided instead to buy and use Norton anti-virus. After
four years of being on the net I sure have read a lot about Norton slowing
down computers. I do think that Norton slowed down my computer some.

Anyway, I was thinking about trying McAfee anti-virus this time around.

What's the word on McAfee? Does it have the reputation of slowing down
computers and messing up systems like Norton has?

Thanks!

Just about as bad. Get AVG. It's free and far less intrusive. The latest
version, 7.0, has everything you need. Try here:

I can only tell you my own experiences with both.Like you.I noticed
considerable slow down with Norton,as well as incompatability issues with
some programs.
I've been using McAfee for over a year now, never noticed any slow down or
had any problems with it.

Ok th scoring (wich depend on how fast and good the scan was, price and user friendly)
AVG 8.0 free score 8.1 (of 10) (fast scan but found not much (you can slow down and get a better)
Mcafee score 7.3 (of 10) (fast and good user friedly but expensive slow down a computer )
Norton 5.4 (of 10) (Fast but realy bad scans slow down you computer much and expensive)
Avast 6.4 (of 10) (slow but god Slow down you computer pretty much)
Bulldog 8.8 (of 10) (fast and good scans expensive)
(all programs scanned 1Therabite where 10GB was virus)

I have had loads of problems with Bulldog, especially netgear nas drives...

Use Kaspersky - never had a issue..
