is MSI X79A-GD45-Plus bios compatible with i7 4820k?

i already have my computer put together with these, i can't test it to see if it works because i didn't know that cpu fans came in specific sizes so i have to wait for the order 🙁

if the bios isn't right will i be presented with a bios screen? i've gone to the msi website and it looks like they have zip files, how would i install those if my computer doesnt even work?

If the BIOS is not new enough to support 4820k, then it'd simply not boot (no POST). You'll need to get a CPU which works w/o BIOS update (don't ask me from where!) and switch on the system and update the BIOS. That's like the only option to update BIOS, or else RMA.

Because you had the MB already, you can check the barcode to see what is the manufacture date. Here is how to "To Discern the Original Manufacturer Barcode" http://www.msi.com/page/warranty/#w-mb

From the MSI website you need the 7760vH4.zip ( I guess the 17.4 version, 8/28/13) for the i7 4820K, and the cpu was released around Sept. 2013. If the MB was made after that date, you will be fine because the MB will have the newer BIOS, otherwise just like MeteorsRaining said the PC will not boot, and you need other compatible cpu to update the BIOS, or go to local PC ask for updating the BIOS for you, or RMA.

just read it and the date of the motherboard is newer than the cpu so im safe thank you.
i'm guessing there are guides out there that tell you this kind of stuff so basically i took a really stupid gamble, i wonder how many silly people like me actually lost
