my 3570k idels ~34c and with prime 95 its top temp is 78c

3570k@4.5 w/ estra +.0100 (i do not know if it is stable)
ive got a cooler master 812 cpu cooler with the thermal compound that it came with

haf 912 with 200mm frount fan and a stock case fan for the other side of the cpu

i was wondering if i put the wrong amount of thermal compound on wrong (first build) but i did it 3 times (pea method)
maybe should get some artic silver 45?

when playing bf3 the fans get loud

also while im at it can you tell me :
what is a good high airpressure fan thats not $25-30
how to hack/ program

THANK YOU!

I will have to disagree as the max. TCASE for the 3570K is 67.4°C, so 78°C is too high!

You do need a better cooling system -- HAF 912 is not a case for you, it is too small for your rig -- also you need a better CPU cooler.

Consider getting a HAF 932, and a Hyper 212 EVO to cooling down things.

NO!

The max temp for Ivybridge cores is 105C!

The 912 is perfectly fine!

The TPC 812 is much better than the 212 EVO!

What are you talking about? :heink:

Can you provide a documentation where it states the max temps for Ivy bridge is 105C (NOT CORES)?

If the HAF 912 is fine why the OP is getting such high temps? 78°C is too high and 105C is an absurd!

Regarding temperatures:

It's because of IB's IHS!

amuffins correct.

Your IB rig is perfectly fine. Runs cooler than i expected at 4.5ghz to be honest with you. You are waaay below intels recommended threshold for temperature. I still wouldnt oc further though :p

idk what jemms talking about. i think he misread facts somewhere.

OK guys lets go through it in order to clarify the situation.

First of all the OP stated that his PC temps reaches 78C. Now what does it mean? Is 78C the Core temps (Tjunction) or CPU (Tcase) temps?

By the link amuffin kindly provided anyone can see that "Tcase Max and Thermal Specification: Can be found on the Intel Processor Spec Finder. This is often confused by users as the maximum temperature for the cores, but in actual fact it refers to the maximum temperature that should be reached by the Tcase sensor."

I am sure the OP is talking about CPU (Tcase) temps, and not the Core (Tjunction) temps.

If 78C is the CPU (Tcase) temp, then as I have already stated it is too high, as the max. Tcase for the 3570K is 67.4C http://ark.intel.com/products/65520/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-Processor-%286M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz%29?wapkw=3570k

The best way to verify if the temps are Core temps (Tjunction) or CPU (Tcase) temps is through HWMonitor (free software) http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

The HAF 912 is a good case, however it is too small for a 4.5 OC which needs a lot more room for cooling.

Still on time I do apologize with the OP regarding to his Cooler Master 812, which is a bit better than the Hyper 212 EVO, I had recommended.

Can you please monitor the temps with HWMonitor (free software link provided above).

Through HWMonitor you should be able to see what the temps are for each core (Tjunction), and also for the CPU (Tcase).

In HWMonitor you can see the temps in ´Temperatures´ -- the CPU (Tcase) is in HWMonitor the same as CPUTIN.

I would say those temps are about average... I have the Hyper 612 myself and I'm seeing 33-35 idle and 62-64 at 100% on IBT. However I'm only running on 4.0ghz across all cores... I've gotten it stable at 4.6 but the temps were right up there in the 79-80s. I don't really need all the power so I've stuck with the lower clock.

Can you post a link where Intel says 78C is " waaay below intels recommended threshold for temperature"?

Based in what 78C temp is " about average"?
