So i was in GTA forums asking abt why GTA V uses multi core when someone said this
"More cores, more processing power. That still doesn't mean that your 8 core AMD is better than the 4 core Intel. For gaming, it's DEFINITELY not at all."
I can play Watch dogs, project CARS(A CPU intensive game) almost smooth 60FPS all the time..with other times being around 55-60FPS...i dont get it why its not definitely good in gaming..

A g3258 at 4.8ghz gets higher fps than an 8350 in crysis 3, a game that will use any amount of threads. More cores does not mean better performance. Only better architecture does.
Also amd cpus get high frame times. High frame times result in lots of fps dips. This results in low average FPS. If the frame time gets past 33ms its noticeable in game.

My 8350 at 4.8ghz sutters a lot from getting over 33ms frame times. Most of the time you are gonna be GPU bound anyways.

FX 8300's arent bad, they just lack singlethreaded performance and thats what is most important for gaming. 4 fast cares are far better than 8 slow cores, meaning i5 is superior in gaming.

Like post above said, even i3 with 2 cores can faster than FX's on CPU heavy games.

Oh but my CPU is OK for GTA V right since i can play most CPU intensive games nicely(Project CARS,Watch dogs)

Plus the sys requirements say i need a 8 core AMD CPU at 4ghz

I donno where did you get that info that G3258 beats fx 8350 in crysis 3,here is video that shows how wrong are you about that http://youtu.be/KEEuXQf29Z4?t=6m37s at 6:27 and after that just look at the huge difference in Watch Dogs.

The fact the 8 core 8350 is showing 60 to 90% load vs a 2 core on MAX settings proves my point. The 2 core g3258 is hitting 100% load with MSAA on and is causing the fps dips.. If you are using budget hardware you wouldn't be trying to get MAX settings in the first place. As i only used the 2 core as an example i feel you have proved me correct.

Using said hardware turning MSAA off would net 60+ fps. But i was only using the 2 core as an example, not saying to use the cpu.

Or the fact that video you linked shows the 2 core beating the 8 core in 12/12 games if you turn MSAA off.

You're fine for at least this console gen with the 8350, no it's not as strong per core as Intel but it does well in multithreaded stuff which since both consoles are sporting 8 core AMD APU's, the 8350/8320 and to a lesser extent the 6 core fx 6300 will age fairly well.

No company is going to alienate their audience by making absurd system requirements, they wouldn't make much money if they required an i7 4770k,etc....

in short, you're fine for years with the 8 core AMD. Don't expect the best fps in the world in single thread heavy stuff like mmo or rts however.

You guys have to remember, it doesn't matter if we as PC enthusiasts like it or not, the companies are going to cater to the lowest common denominator weaker consoles

the system requirements for gta 5 are only the old core 2 quad which is very dated by now, even the demanding watch dogs only required a core 2 quad.

Only if the game is GPU bound. And setting the amount of pre rendered frames would fix it. HPET can effect it also.
