Update your bios and it will support the i5.

If your BIOS is updated, then yes it should work. Also that is a DDR4 mobo and not a DDR3.

It appears it does, thats probably the reason the bios wasn't released till 3/2018. I'm sure it took some work.

Pretty sure you have to use DDR3L since it's 1.35v otherwise you'll risk damaging the memory controller. At least that's what intel said.

Good, concerned the ddr3 in the question had been missed, and yes it will have to be ddr3L, so little practical reason to use it, as you are unlikely to have any lying around.

The only difference between DDR3 and DDR3L is that the DDR3L is able to operate at a lower 1.35v compared to1.5v for DDR3.
Either should work since I see no such restrictions on the motherboard support page.

Since the memory controller resides on the CPU die, Intel's own specifications for the i5-7600 say:

DDR4-2133/2400, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.35V

Gigabyte may have tested the motherboard with 1.5V DDR3 but Gigabyte is not the one providing warranty on the processor if you run the processor out of spec and the memory controller gets damaged.

I updated it and its now American Megatrends Inc. F20, 12.4.2018
So is it compatible now or not?

It is compatible. The issue is 1.5 volt DDR3 MAY damage the CPU memory controller.
