So I'v been working on finding parts to build a new desktop PC for around 2 weeks or more now, and I'd like some insight on if it's a good build. I made a thread a few days ago but I'v updated most of my list since then.
What I will be using it for:
1: Gaming. What kind? All...? I have 845+ games on Steam, and I like to heavily mod Skyrim and Minecraft. (A heavily modded Minecraft CAN easily need over 8GB of memory if using enough mods, which I'd like to be able to do for singleplayer)
2: Recording. Someday I plan to record games using FRAPS.
3: Multitasking. I'd like to be able to have all these things open at once(Without much or any performance loss): Photoshop, Skype, Teamspeak, Yahoo Messenger, Skyrim/modded-Minecraft level of game, Chrome with 3-7 tabs/windows; Youtube, other video steaming site, 2-3 browser games, other misc stuff.
4. Dual monitors.
Also, a question before I get on to the list. Would it be a good idea to get warranties from the places I buy the parts from(Amazon and Newegg)? I recently found out about manufacture warranties, so I don't know if the "store" warranties are even worth getting. I'd like to save the money if I can.
Onto the list:
Intel Core i7-4790k
ASRock Z97 Extreme 4
G.Skills RipjawsX 16GB(2x8) Latency-9-9-9-24-2N or G.Skills TridentX 16GB(2x8) Latency-7-8-8-24-2N
Which of these would be better? I assume the TridentX is faster, and overclocks better(?). They are the same price on Newegg.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 - 4GB - 256-bit memory interface
NZXT Phantom - Full Tower
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 Power Supply
Seagate Desktop 3TB HDD Sata 6 Gb/s - 64MB Cache - 720 RPM and Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5 Inch or Seagate Desktop SSHD 4TB SATA 6 GB/s 64MB Cache
Which would be better for me? If I put pretty much everything on the SSHD would it be better than having general applications and OS on the SSD and everything else like games on the HDD?
I also plan to put my current 1TB HDD into the new PC.
That's all I'd need for a new desktop PC, minus a DVD Drive, which are cheap. Things I already have are:
1TB HDD. 7200-RPM.
2 Monitors.
2x4 GB ram, which may or may not be dysfunctional.
Windows 7 64-bit, Home Premium edition.
Razer keyboard, mouse, and headset.
