Hi all,

A friend of mine recommended this list below as my new gaming desktop setup :

i5 4440
Asus Motherboard B85M-G
80 Plus Gold PSU CM V650S
HyperX Ram Fury 8GB
NZXT Phantom 410 Casing

Also I will be using my old R9 280X Toxic, HDD and SSD.
Is it a good build? Anyone wanna recommend something else? I feel like want to change MOBO from Asus to MSI and a different brand of PSU, let's say Seasonic.

I'm looking for a good airflow build as my house tends to get warm every now and then.

Oh sorry I forgot to put in the prices as well.

i5 4440 - $ 181.15
Asus Motherboard B85M-G - $ 82.73
80 Plus Gold PSU CM V650S - $109.18
HyperX Ram Fury 8GB - $ 76.58
NZXT Phantom 410 Casing - $ 99.95

Also I surveyed a little and found out these two that I want to replace with :

MSI H87-G43 GAMING - $ 141.17
S12G-650 Watt Power Supply - $ 135.01

Mind you that this is a direct conversion from my country's currency to USD. The price is good?

The MSI mobo is nice but you have a locked cpu (meaning it can't be overclocked) and are trying to get a overclockable motherboard. If you do not plan to overclock then you should look at the H87 motherboards. If you do plan to overclock then get a i5-4670k.

Definitely get the seasonic if you can afford it. Other good choices are the XFX pro series (made by seasonic), Corsair AX/HX series.

But the performance difference between an overclocked and non overclocked desktop is not that much right? Also by overclocking my hardware's lifetime will decrease right?

Your CPU cannot be overclocked, so getting a motherboard built for overclocking is pointless.

No, overclocking does not hurt lifespan of parts. And on modern PC's overclocking is a hobby and DEFINITELY not required. With that i5 4440, you will still be able to max all games, GPU depending.

I thought only Z87 motherboards can overclock? Sorry, my data might be outdated for quite some time.

Could you suggest another motherboard then if both suggested above have overclock capability? Or should I just take i5-4670k processor?

NO motherboards can overclock the 4440 as it is NOT an overclocking CPU because it has a LOCKED multiplier.

People are saying not to waste money on an overclocking motherboard if youare getting a CPU you cannot even overclock.

Right, so numanator said that
"The MSI mobo is nice but you have a locked cpu (meaning it can't be overclocked) and are trying to get a overclockable motherboard."
So I assume that the MSI H87 motherboard have overclock ability, except the fact that I'm getting a 4440 which is a locked cpu which means I can't overclock my desktop. Hence the question; does the MSI motherboard an overkill for my build?

I think you had a z87 mobo in your build before, if you didn't then that was my mistake. Only the z87s support overclocking. Since you are not overclocking a H87 or similar mobo would work for your need (and be cheaper than the z87s).

Wow I didn't think anyone would remember my last desktop specs. I'm touched :')

Btw it was Z77, not Z87.
