Is my computer future proof or do i need an upgrade?

Since i built my pc at 2016 after using a low spec laptop for years i finally built my pc on a budget around 400$

i3 4160 3.6 GHz Dual-core
AMD Radeon R9 200 / HD 7970 (non GHz edition)
8 Gb Ddr3 ram 4 x 4
1TB HDD
1080p 60Hz LG monitor 22inch

As i was playing FC3 and FC4 (Far Cry) i would see around 50-60 average,
and im saving for FC5 and Skeptical about whether my pc could run it

And concerns about my i3 bottlenecking future builds, and looking forward to pick up a i5 4460 which has the same socket as the i3 4160, wondering if it is a worthy upgrade.

I just need a reliable mancave station that can play future games in medium - high preset with good fps.

What GPU do you have the 7970? R9 200 is a range of GPU's such as the R9 270, 280, 290 etc.

The min requirements for far cry 5 are an i5 2400 or better and a GTX 670/ R9 270 or better. It should run on your system assuming you have a HD 7970 or a R9 270 or better. The i3 4160 should run it however I am not sure how well, in terms of single thread perfomance your cpu is better than the i5 2400 but in terms of multi thread performance it is not.

I would personally save up for say an i7 4770 or 4790 rather than going to a haswell i5. One of those i7's should last a good bit into the future, cant say the same for the i5. You will want to look into upgrading the GPU pretty soon too if you have a 7970.
