Is my computer overheating or is there some other issue?

Hey, I came here to post about an issue that I'm experiencing.

Whenever I play graphic-intensive games such as GTA V and Dark Souls II, I get a very good FPS at around 60 FPS with no lag even with the highest settings. However, after about 5-10 minutes of playing the game, the frame rate drops randomly to something like 10-20 FPS and stays like that for a few seconds. It then goes back up to 60 FPS and runs smoothly again. A few seconds later, the same thing happens, where the FPS drops to 10-20 and slows the game down a lot, and then goes back to 60 FPS and runs smoothly still. This never happens on games that are not as graphic-intensive.

This happens over and over again all the time and it's extremely frustrating to deal with. It really ruins the experience for me and makes it unbearable to play any graphic-intensive games.

I tried both games before on the lowest settings and even in windowed mode, and the same thing still happens no matter what I change.

I use a program called SpeedFan to see what temperatures I'm getting and my CPU reaches 68 C when playing these types of games. I got this temperature when I was playing Dark Souls II.

I'm worried that my computer is possibly overheating and I don't want to damage my computer because of this. When I'm not playing any games, the CPU is at a temperature of 40 C.

These are my computer specs:
- CPU: AMD Black Edition FX‑8350 4 GHz 8‑Core Processor
- CPU COOLER: Hyper 212 Plus
- MOTHERBOARD: ASRock 970 Extreme4
- GRAPHICS CARD: Sapphire Radeon HD 7900
- SSD

My best assumption is that it's the graphics card, but that's just my first idea, it can be a number of things. What about drivers? Have you uninstalled/installed the newest drivers?

All the fans are spinning properly.

Do you have onboard video? If so, disable the GPU and use the motherboard and see what happens.

I don't have onboard video either.

I accidentally clicked Best Answer because I'm not used to the site, haha. Is there a way to undo this? To go with you question, all my drivers are up to date.

You can unselect it as best answer, there should be a gray button by where the select best question button was. I'd recommend taking it to a PC repair shop and have them look at it.
