Hi guys, i just had confirmation (a Danish tradition for christians where we confirm our faith) and i got alot of money from my relatives and friends. I wanna invest some of these money in upgrading my pc, and i decided to use around 666€ of it on my pc, all the other money is getting saved up for my future. I wanna to buy a ASUS GeForce STRIX GTX 970 4GB and a AMD FX-8350 X8 4.0GHz 16MB 125W Box AM3+. I am gonna get my brothers friend to install them both or get the shop to it:

The big question is that can they set this into my pc without i have to upgrade anything else? For example the power supply? The shop tells me its ready for the upgrade.

Here is my specs:

Motherboard
Brand MSI
Model 970A-G43

CPU
Brand AMD
Model FX-4130 + Coolermaster TX3 Køler
Speed 3.8 GHz 4 Core

Graphic card
Brand Club3D
Model Radeon R7 260X
Ram 2GB

Ram
Sice 8 GB, 1x8
Ramtype Kingston 1600Mhz

Computer Case
Brand Coolermaster
Model Elite 430

Power supply
Brand Thermaltake
Model 530W 80+

I have wrote to the store i bought my pc in and they say it can run it.

On my motherboard there is a text saying: MSI 970A-G43

I dont know others than the ones listed below and those i can see threw the window in my pc case.

Thx. for the respond by the way! :) Great that people in here wanna help. :)

So what you are telling me is that i cannot use this cpu with my motherboard, and have to do a FX-8150 instead? :)

Sry. that i mis-guided you guys about the wrong specs. I was not aware that they changed the motherboard to another brand/model when it was so repair some time ago. EDIT: I found out how to see my system specs. My current graphic card and cpu is the ones in the spec list on #1.

Also, if i go with the FX-8150 will i then still get a good peformance in games like bfh and gta 5?
What graphic settings do you think i would be able to play on with what fps?

Thanks very mutch for the help! It means alot to me. :)

unfortunately, i'm pretty sure the only way to know what the model of your PSU is to actually open it and look. will you be doing these upgrades yourself or having the shop do it?

the FX 8150 isn't the best CPU for gaming, but with a moderate overclock it should perform well enough. the gtx 970 is a very strong GPU and will handle most of the work when gaming. i would expect you to get ultra settings with 60+ FPS on 1080p with the gtx 970, that's usually what i get. you might experience some lag during CPU intensive areas on GTA because the AMD CPU is the weak link in your system.

if it was me, i would upgrade to even a lower end intel cpu like a core i5-4460, but then you would also need a new motherboard.

I will get my brothers friend to install it if he is in the area otherwise i will get the shop to do it. But if i get the shop to do it i have to send it with our countrys mail company and they honestly do not know how to take care of packages..

Well, i do think that changing the motherboard to get a intel cpu would be kinda hard to me. I do not have so mutch experience on the area.

Is there not any other solutions others than overclocking the FX-8150 or changing motherboard and install a intel cpu?

Thanks for helping me out! 😀

The FX 8320, 8320e, and 8370 would like to have a talk with you. 😛

you're right, i totally missed the vishera section. logainofhades has a good point, any of those CPUs would be superior to the one you currently have. don't go with the E series though, i believe they are under clocked to improve efficiency, hence losing performance in the process.

is there any reason you don't want to overclock? i would say get the 8320 but i'm worried you might not even see any performance gain for gaming with the lower stock clock speed of 3.5 GHz. the extra cores probably won't make up the difference in most games, but only in specific applications or games that actually utilize them. the 4350 comes clocked at 4.2 GHz, but again you could most likely reach that speed easily with your current chip

Edit: the 8320 has turbo frequency of 4.0GHz it would definitely out perform your 4130 by at least 10% even on only 4 cores. I recommend the 8320 and I also recommend you overclock it but that's personal choice

Well, i do not really wanna overclock because if i do then the insurence does not cover if it gets damaged. :)

Honestly, i am kinda confused now. Can i put the AMD FX-8350 Black Edition and a Asus Geforce gtx 970 (4gb) into my pc? (Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43)

Thanks.

no, the FX-8350 is not compatible with your motherboard. the best you can do without upgrading your motherboard would be the FX-8320.

the Asus Geforce gtx 970 will work just fine, assuming your power supply is still good. this card only uses about 30 Watts more than your current card, however, the power supply you have is poor quality and you might consider upgrading it before it does fail.
