So i got this case the other week (http://oi42.tinypic.com/2ahxl6p.jpg)

It got 2 side 120mm fans (beside front drives as shown in the picture) , 1 rear fan and 1 top 200m fan.

I also installed 2 bottom fans (where i put the black lines in the pic) , they're both 120mm as well.

I also got a schyte katana cpu cooler.

I wanted to ask , what's the use of the 2 side fans there ? And , the 2 graphics card fans (gtx570) are both pointing down to where the psu is installed. Where is that air going ?

Correct me if both the vga's fans are intake not exhausting.

The side fans are used to push cool air onto the GPu so it gets cooler air to use. The GPU fans take internal air and push it out the back.

EDIT: didn't look at the picture, are you talking about the fans mounted by the HDDs?

fan position varies among people but the general idea is front/bottom/side should be blowing into the case to bring in cooler, fresh air. The top/back should be blowing out, the psu blows out, the gpu blows out, put the CPU fan in a way to blow the air from towards the top or rear fans blowing out.

Yes. My cooling is that the bottom fans and side fans are throwing air in the case and the rear and top fan are pulling air out of the case.

I also installed the cpu cooler with the fan pointing at the rear fan so its hot air is immediately thrown out by the rear fan.

Yes. I'm talking about the fans that are beside the HDDs.

Well those are there to cool your HDDs, although wether or not they really need to be there is questionable.

Dunno why they were mounted there. Gpu/middle of case ventilation is more important than cooling for only an HHD.

Those side fans came installed with my case. The more the better i think , so im not going to remove them.
