Hi, i have a gigabyte p35 board with 4 gigs of ram 500 gb hdd a q9300 cpu and my question is tha my cpu will bottleneck a hd4850 or a hd 4870 (not decided witch to get). I have a 17" LCD so my native res is 1280x1024. :bounce:

At that low of a resolution, you will probably be bottlenecked but your performance will still be high enough that it does not really matter. If you feel it being an issue, your CPU is highly overclockable.

Go for the 4850 or even a 4670, your resolution does not require a 4870.

That CPU wont bottleneck your card.

Either of those cards are way too much for only gaming at 1280x1024 btw.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have clocked my cpu to 2850 MHZ (stock voltage 1.225v), this is the max with stock settings. Is it worth it going to 2925 MHZ with 1.262v or to 3000 MHZ with 1.293v, or 2850 MHZ is fine and i will not see the difference between these settings.

As has been said you will most likely be resolution bottle necked rather than anything else, so no tweaks will see any further improvement, you should be able to run a good level of AA/AF with that kind of set up.

I disagree because even at lower resolutions, the more GFX power the better. Crysis is such a game that is still demanding at lower resolutions.

speedbird is right in crysis warhead at 1280x1024 and everithing on max except for shadows (gamer) and motion blur (gamer) without fsaa i get 25-30 fps witch isint much.

Well thats because you are playing Crysis, not to be funny but had you asked will this be overkill for Crysis you would have gotten a specific Crysis bassed answer. As you didnt specify then the replies you received were based on general game play and not just Crysis which as we all know is one of the if not the exception to most of the rules :)
The Warhead game is meant to be easier on the hardware but i havn't played it so couldnt comment as to if thats about right or not.

Personally i wouldnt say a 4850 was overkill for every thing at your res but i wouldnt have gone any higher, as i said your getting a high level of quality/detail settings from the card and the way to make it run a bit faster is to just drop down the settings a little :)
