[SOLVED] Is my CPU bottlenecking my GPU?

I have an Intel Core i3-8350k processor overclocked to 4,3 GHz. I owned a Gigabyte Gtx 1060 6GB G1 Gaming, ran it in OC mode(aorus software). I had stable 144 fps on low settings in r6. Now I traded it for an 1 year old ROG STRIX 1070 TI and I run it in no oc mode, it fails to keep even 140 fps. I have a 144hz display with FreeSync enabled. Why is this happening?

If your CPU is at/near 100% usage while the GPU is unable to hit 100% usage, then the CPU bottleneck would be the answer. As I would expect with a i3-8350 and a GTX 1070 Ti.

do you suggest a solution? like OC my CPU even more? or you suggest I get an i5 8th gen?

What’s your cpu & gpu temperatures when gaming? Even if you are bottlenecked by the cpu you should not have seen a loss in FPS, worst case it should be the same.

CPU temp around 55-65 (my case exhaust is near the window curtain, the room I'm in doesnt allow me for more spacing) GPU around 60-65 at most. Under load of course. Idle temps are: CPU ~40, GPU ~50

The slight loss in fps may be due to the fact that the CPU has more work to do buffering the faster gfx card.
I suspect the i3-8350K is right at the margin for keeping up with the GTX 1070 Ti at those fps. Try for some more OC and see what happens.

But really, 144 fps vs 149 fps? That is almost margin of error, and probably not noticeable. Btw, you never answered if the CPU was at 100% usage when gaming.

i5-9600k? Yeah, I would think so. Your 4 core CPU is at 100% usage. That means that it has no more to give. And playing at low settings makes the GPU demand more from the CPU. The faster the GPU, the more it demands from the CPU.

Try increasing the in-game settings; put more demand on the GPU. Do you like playing at poor graphics settings?

I just bought the 9600k and sold my 8350k and it's all fine now!
