Is my CPU overheating?

Thanks to anyone who helps me with this.

So recently while playing certain games my pc just goes into like sleep mode or what have you.
Display goes black, pc is on but unresponsive and it stays like this for a while. As well the CPU fan goes off like crazy. I have cleaned the fan and heatsink so it's not dusty and I'm not sure what the problem is, I have heard it could be a PSU thing but I dont know.

Anyone who can help is appreaciated

My cpu sometimes hits lows of 18C and so on, so Im not sure

i doubt it but you can check. use your cpu and monitor the temperature. report back with max temp.

Should I use amd overdrive and do a stability test and screenshot the temperature it stops at?

i would just do whatever it is you are doing when you think your cpu is over heating.

Are you using the stock cooler from AMD, or an aftermarket one.

I would also remove the cooler, and reapply the thermal paste, then see if it cuts off in games.

Download HWMonitor. It is a product from CPUID. It will record the maximum temps while you are gaming so you can know how hot your processor is really getting. Also, some AMD board's have voltage regulators which are known to get very hot, once they reach a certain temperature, they will begin to throttle you game or even shut off the PC. So, download HWMonitor and let us know what temps it records.

Unfortunately I had my pc pre built since at the time I got it, I did not know a single thing about pc's at all
and I kind of regret it now, and I have no thermal paste🙁
