so im running a amd 3800x2 and i overclocked it to 2.3 ghz up from 2 ghz. and i have a msi 9600gt oc video card runnign with 3 gigs of ram on windows xp, and i been playing crysis and some other games, and they seem to do pretty well on my system but i have a weird feeling i could be playing the games a lil better seeing how my video card plays after it loads the actual area im at in the game gets great fps but when it comes to turnign around fast with my mouse it seems my pc cant keep up so im thinking my cpu cant keep up with my video card, so should i be upgrading my cpu or whats the problem , im not an extream gamer or anythign i pretty much just play wow and some other fps games and im thinking my cpu is needing a upgrade and i leaning twords a faster duel core or a phenom. any feedback would be great THANKS

sorry for bad grammar and i hope i posted this in the right section

well that CPU is quite slow for that card im not great with AMD more use to intel. i recon to get the most outa the card ud need a 2.6Ghz plus AMD dual core as for gaming most games dont run faster with a quad even crysis doesnt benifit much. plus amd quads are quite slow apart from phenoms 2 but thats prolly to much for a 9600GT

also ur saying loading new scenery is slow i thought that was down to the RAM too

what speed ram do u have and is it in dual channel cause 3 Gigs would need to be 2x 512 and 2 X 1gig and i take it, its DDR2

well 3 X 1gb is not running in dual channel a motherboard will normmaly have 4 bays consisting of 2 coulors if u put an equal amount of ram into each coulors then it will run in dual channel which increases the preformance of the system. have a read into dual channel stuff

u can test if the system is running dual channel by running CPU-z and looking at the memory tab

if i where you id buy some http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154644/show_product_reviews

its OCZ gaming ram 4 GB 2 x 2GB and at 800 Mhz for only £34.99 or u could get another single 1 gig stick for like £10 to make it dual channel

speaking that it is DDR 2 memory you have and a AMD CPU you must have a socket AM2 or AM2+. Check the motherboard's manufacture website and see what CPU's it supports. The Higher the number the better the CPU. If you can get the Athlon 64 X2 6400. It is clocked at 3.2GHz and you save $$$ for now until the future.

YES !! get rid of that cpu you need at least a 2.6 g cpu to run that 9600,,and get rid of the third stick of ram ,system can only run in ddr2 mode with 2x2 +2x2,,, not 2x2 +1x1,and lastly ,,with 2+g of ram you do not need a swapfile..:)

Completly agree with dokk2 :p so buy a new 1 g stick or get rid of 1 stick run on 2 or 4 gig

or just take out a loan and get a core i7 DDR3 and a GTX 285 in tri SLI

Get 2x2 GB 800MHz ram.
As for CPU get a new 7000 series if Your board supports it if not then 6000 or 6400. But crysis is not that CPU demanding . I just recently switched from X2 4200 @2.4GHz and that was running crysis fine with around 60% CPU utilization evenly spread between cores. Of course there are other games that use CPU more and use only one core that's where You need faster CPU. Like for example I have now started playing Stalker Clkear sky now and it uses 100% of one core of my Q6600 @3.2GHz and other three like 10%. It all depends what are You running. GTA4 for example taxes all of my cores at 80-90%

i would suggest looking into getting the 5600+ black edition cpu. unless you have some serious cooling for the 6000 or 6400, because they run pretty hot. the 5600+ black can easily over clock to 3.2 also, any higher than 2.8 and you dont see much performance increase. also i would suggest 2x2 of ram

First of all you're running your memory in single channel mode so you're loosing performance right there. You may actually get better performance if you just run 2 1gb sticks in dual channel. Considering how cheap RAM is now it really would be best to get 4GB (2x2GB) or DDR2 800 RAM. As for the CPU you really should upgrade it. Check your motherboard manufacturer to find out what CPUs that motherboard supports. I would suggest going with a 5400+ BE and overclocking it since you can get it for only $66 at new egg.

how would he be running on a Socket 939 with DDR2 memory. socket 939 only took DDR1 not DDR2.

i would say get AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400 Brisbane 2.8GHz black edition Processor $66 very good price and can overclock well

Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103289

also get

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 $49.99 on sale for $39.99

Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122

if your mobo cant handle the 5400+ black edition

get the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz for $52.99 but i would try to see if the black edition would work for your mobo

Thanks alot guys for the reply's i appreciate it i think ima go with the amd 6000x2 because i just found another gig of ram i had lying in an old pc and it matches the ram i got now so ill have 4x1 gig sticks at it will run in duel channel with my m.b so a faster cpu now and i should be set im not too worryed aobut the cooling cause right now my amd runs at about 30c idol right now wich is pretty kool and dont go up much when im playing games for a long time
