I ran the (maximum heat, FPU stress, data fits in L2 cache, RAM not tested much) on my i5-4690 and as soon as i did it went to 80 degrees and kept going so i exited out. Is it supposed to get this hot?

Solution
the stock cooler is perfectly fine and safe for gaming with on with that processor, otherwise intel would not use it. It is not the best, but it does the job.

I may get Corsair water cooler or a Noctua fan cooler. And should itbe getting that hot on prime95?

yes, that is normal. I would get a NH-U14S, exceptional cooler for the price.

Yea i was thinking that to. In normal day and gaming situations would the stock cooler be ok for my i5 4690? My GPU will be an R9-280 also. Will the Stock an cool it if all i do is just gaming?

Ok, good :) So since i will never be doing anything but gamig an aftermarket cooler would only help my CPU last longer probably in my opinion.
