I oced my core i5 750 from stock to 4.01ghz.

My cpu cooler is the schyte katana cpu cooler ( http://www.scythe-eu.com/uploads/tx_cfamooflow/Katana-3-Cooler-4_01.jpg ) and my pc case is cm stormstryker. I got 2 side fans beside the hard disc intaking air , 2 bottom fans intaking air too , 1 rear fan exhausting and 1 top 200mm fan exhausting air too.

Temperatures right now are ; 55,51,52,51.

With prime stretch test i was hitting 90 degrees +.

Whats the problem ? i think those temperatures are pretty high for this cpu cooler i bought.

Solution
Yeah, for GPU's it's best to make sure the heatsinks are clear of dust. Compressed air works great.

For the CPU, you want the fan pushing air through the heatsink and towards a case exhaust fan (either on top or out the back)
around 90 is considered the top end for an i5, more than likely your system will start throttling performance, or shut down if it reaches that temperature.

More than likely the most often cause that I've seen for temps like that with a cooler like that is poorly applied thermal compound.

Follow this guide to be sure you are not putting too much on, or applying it wrong.

I will buy a new thermal compound and apply it for my cpu cooler . Can i use it for my graphics card too ?

the answer to the second question is kind of.

It is much more difficult to apply, and it is easy to damage the GPU.

You really shouldn't need to re-apply it to the GPU. Also, not all thermal compounds work as well on GPU's, since GPU's by design get *much* hotter than a CPU.

Fair enough. Then all i will have to do is clean my graphics card with compressed air. I didn install the new cpu cooler today. I installed it so that its fan is facing and throwing air to the rear fan , and then immediately exhausted out of the case. Is this the right way ?

Ok thanks. That's how my cpu cooler is installed , with the fan throwing air to the rear fan. (Exhaust). Do you think the cpu temperature improves with proper thermal compound applied ? If yes , by how much ?

Well , im not a really hard benchmarker or a hard gamer. i sometimes play crysis 3 , mafia 2 ,etc , and love to max out everything. i oc my vga too. As for the cpu , i was with 3.8ghz and temperatures were better than they are now with the 4.01 ghz. I forgot whats the voltage set on. I will try 1.35v. Does lowering the voltage improves the temperature ?
