Is my CPU too cold?

Hello, I have an AMD FX-8350, (a little old, i know) and I just installed a new water cooler, and my NZXT CAM software is telling me that it idles at aroun 15-20 degrees C. Is it possible for your CPU to be too cold and be affected by the temperature?

Solution

A cpu will be affected by cold temps, but i highly doubt you have 15-20 °C idle unless your ambient temps are 5 to 10°C or even less, i remember FX cpu series to have some issue with temp readings, so its probably the software showing wrong results, use AMD overdrive to check temps i think it is more accurate.

I actually had a cpu fail on me before when I was rendering something. It was an i7, and I did not have the money to replace it at the time, so I went back down to my i3 which was the original processor. I still had the water cooler I used on the i7 so the i3 ran at around 12-25C no problem. You really should not worry too much about a cpu getting too cold, you should worry about it getting too hot. But for a FX-8350 that temp reading sounds a little off as I remember that cpu running decently warm. Its probably just an issue with a heat sensor.
