Solution
That's a bit too extreme, mate! There could be a number of reasons:
  1. Poor case airflow.
  2. WAY too much dust in the CPU cooler.
  3. Gummed up thermal compound (Most likely).
  4. A faulty CPU fan.
  5. And lastly; an inappropriate CPU cooler.
The i5 2500 has a 95W TDP and it's quite possible that you might be mistakenly using a cooler designed for 65W CPUs.

I used to work in a computer shop about 8 years ago and I once saw a PC with a Core 2 Quad (95W TDP), running with a Core 2 Duo (65W) cooler.

It happens, mate!
Welcome to the forums?

What is full system specs including CPU cooler?

What is the load under which you get these temps? Gaming? How old the thermal paste?

Have you cleaned dust from inside case and cooler heatsink at all? I would suggest applying new thermal paste if it's older than 2-3 years old. Also check if the cooler is tightly in place.
