Is my cpu working or not.

Pc overheated so i applied new paste. Restarted and it turns on but nothing happens on screen. Redone it twice. Cleared and reset everything , still nothing. It runs until the 5min auto switch goes off. Interestingly the mouse or keyboard doesnt switch on either. Intel 5960x cpu. Msi x99 sli plus mobo. 32 gig ddr4 corsair memory and 1200w raidmax psu. R9 290 gfx card. How do i know if the cpu is working or sohething else might be wrong as everything is plugged in properly.

see if removing some ram helps, it shouldn't make any difference but 32 might be too much for it right now.

disconnect all non essentials like even hdd to see if you get any response. I would say GPU as well but board doesn't have onboard
