Hi all,

I know this has been asked 100000s of times but I figure it would be better to ask specifically for my setup/situation. (i already know the socket is AM4)

I have the Ryzen 3 3200G installed on my MOBO, I am looking to upgrade that to the Ryzen 7 3700X (a solid upgrade IMO - probably wrong but meh)

my question is, will my bios be able to run the Ryzen 7 3700X without flashing up upgrading it?

bios info: 5220 - AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.3 (according to CPU-Z)

my MOBO: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-A320M-K/

thankyou all :)

Yes the 3700X will run on that BIOS.
There have been BIOS updates for your motherboard since the 5220 though so it is worth flashing to the latest one which is 5409 as they are always improving things.

The 3700X is a considerable upgrade over the 3200G.
What RAM will you be using as these Ryzen chips benefit from faster RAM, specifically from 3000 MHZ upwards and running in dual channel i.e. two sticks?
