I've an older Buffalo NAS drive that's powered by its own plug. I took it out of it's enclosure, used an adapter to connect via USB to the back of my PC, there was a burning smell, I unplugged it quickly, then tried putting it into my PC, I had an extra storage bay, I used the cables from my CD drive in hopes it would power the NAS up, it didn't.

So I'm wondering, is the drive fried?

It's not being seen with NAS Navigator... Where as before I got this brain fart, it was...

I just powered up the NAS drive and there is a red LED flashing on/off 7 times

Are these picture what your wanting?

I`m thinking it might have something to do with a USB card that I rarely used, cause I tried my pen tablet and my wireless mouse in this USB card thing and now they are not working....
