I have picked out the parts for my computer that I intend to build, this is the first computer I have ever built, and I just want to make sure that this rig will work!
I should add that I really can't go much higher than $1180

Im in the planning stages of my first build as well. Everything seems fine to me as far as I know. Only thing I see is, that you only have 4GB of RAM. Is there a reason for that? Because you can easily upgrade to 8GB and stay under $1180.

Hmm... As far as my knowledge goes, no games really utilize more than 3 gigs of RAM. I guess it would be a good idea to have 8 gigs for the future since games will probably exceed 4 gigs sometime soon. I'll look into it! Thanks for the help!

You will want to fill all four slots with a matched quad channel ram set. 4 x 4gb = 16 gb in 4 ram dimm slots work well. Sometimes different pairs of rams bought separate might not play nice.

I urge you to put away your vices for a week or so and consider the i7 2600k CPU for a few dollars more.
