Hello everyone, today i replaced my old gtx 770, with a gtx 1050ti, in hopes of a slight fps boost,
But when installed correctly etc I'm getting the exact same frames if not less.
My specs.
AMD FX-8320 Eight core Processor.
asus m5a97 r2.0 motherboard.
2x4 Avexier 1600, 1.5v Ram.

Solution

That's because the 770 is better than the 1050Ti. The performance is normal. Granted the 1050Ti's architecture is newer. THere may be some games that favor the Ti but this change was more of a sidegrade.

What sort of research did you do before you made the change?

Not gonna lie mate, not much at all. Bit of a spur of the moment buy, I think I'm gonna return the GPU and put the money i paid for it, towards A i5-6700k, z170 motherboard, 16gb of ddr4 ram. One of the tech guys insured me it would make an improvement, due to the new age etc.

What tech guys? Obviously if these are the same ppl to that told you what card to upgrade to I'd probably avoid them. What is your budget for upgrades?

That would be one heck of an upgrade.

Yes, a return is most certainly a good idea.

Wonder why they suggested the last generation of CPUs.

Total budget?

OS?

Sorry, my poor structure of the last answer, i meant the guy at the store, assured me that purchasing the new gpu would increase my fps, and my budget is around the £600 mark for the upgrade, recently purchased 750watt module psu and 500gbs of samsung 850 pro ssds.
Which psu + motherboard would you guys recommend?

Best way to look at it is to stay in your section so a good upgrade would have been a 1070 or 1080. 770-1070 basically if you had had a 750- and got the 1050ti that would have been OK but even then a 1060 would be a better choice.

Do you reckon if i kept my gpu the gtx 770, and upgraded all my psu, ram, motherboard. I will still get decent performance with the gpu?
