[SOLVED] Is my GPU broken?

(AMD R9 290, AMD FX 8350)
Came home from the shop and my GPU fan was going wild.
Switched off PC, switched back on again and I got the Windows logo with a white line going up the side.
I can access the Bios but it still has said line.
I booted my PC using an old Nvidia GPU and it worked fine, uninstalled AMD drivers, tried with the R9 again but the same problem came back

It sounds likely that my graphics card has broken but I'm asking for confirmation/advice before I give up and fork out for a new card.

Only good way to tell is test the video card in another system with a known good power supply. If you have a low quality PSU that may be the cause of issues.
