Hello, as the title implies I am a little paranoid about whether or not my GPU is seated correctly in the slot. This is the first (out of a whole three) GPU I have had issues seating (as in it would not go in, but I seemed to have remedied this by moving the case cable tray and removing the top PCIe slot cover, too) but it is now able to move into the slot.

However, since then, I have become concerned about whether or not it I seated fully, since, after shifting it from one room to another (~10-15m) during a house reorganisation, the VGA light on the motherboard appeared during POST, but the monitor still displayed windows, and windows still said the device was functioning in device manager. The case did vibrate a bit when shifting it about onto the new desk and getting it oriented. Perhaps this caused the latch to come undone? This motherboard does use the quick release latch from ASUS which I feel might make it more prone to this.

I figured I would reseat it to be safe, but after reseating it I am doubting whether it was corrected seated in the first place. This is because i think I might see the contacts on the far left where the card fits into the slot and before lifting the gpu up to screw in, the traces were even more visible (might be normal?). Furthermore, when lifting the gpu up to screw in, I could not lift it all the way up since the screw holes on the case became misaligned (I'm assuming this is intended to ensure the card is not too far tilted, am I correct?).

I have since reseated it again, but I am still unsure. I can recall that the latch clicks (very very quiet and almost inaudible, might have something to do with the quick release). However I can one hundred percent confirm the latch does move and does not move any further.

Since the VGA light no longer remains on during boot, is it safe to go ahead and use the PC (was a little bit worried about a short from an incorrectly seated graphics card, which I have no idea how happens but have heard can happen)? I have included photos of where I think the traces appear a little visible (on the far left, but could just be due to camera light and angle as some appear better than others, but I need another set of eyes and opinions).

As long as it's same across whole bus, it's fine otherwise it either wouldn't latch or will not be able to screw back side to case. Bus height can be variable and pin length on GPU too.

Thank you all for your replies. Regarding being the same across the whole bus, it's the first part of the bus/connector before the notch and the long part I keep thinking I see the pins. I know its might be kind of hard to zoom in via Imgur but I believe when zooming in pictures 1, 4, 7, 10, and especially 15 display this best. Could just be angle or my mind being stupid, though!

If the VGA light doesn't show after trying to reseat it and everything seems to work fine I'd say you are good.

I'm struggling to understand what you are saying here but if you can's get the screws to fit in place (in a fairly modern system) without using excessive force it's usually a pretty good indication something isn't quite fitting as it should be.. Usually you lift the GPU only to counter the weight of the GPU, when you need to align the holes for the screws. So yes, it sounds like your first seating was a bit off.

Sorry, I did mean countering the weight of the GPU, yes. Even though the case was on its side when inserting, the GPU was looser which seems pretty normal until screwed in. What I meant was if I held the GPU all the way up, the screw holes on the GPU would not align with the case holes, and so I held it up only as far as the case allowed the screws to be screwed in. The tips of the traces were also more visible until holding the GPU up to screw in... If that makes sense...
